Our client purchased this tired, 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom property in Burwood East and wanted a full makeover before they moved in.
They also had a child who was excited to have a brand new bedroom! It’s fun when we get to inject a bit of flair to a renovation, so when we were asked to create a study space in the bedroom for a young girl, Paulitta, our head of design, got a little excited. We had a strict budget to stick to, but we’re experts at adding those little extras that make the biggest impact.
The two biggest considerations our design team had were:
1. as much as we don’t want them to, kids tend to grow up, so the design had to appeal not only to an 8yr old, but also an 18yr old, and;
2. renovations are something you don’t want to have to do every few years, so timeless is key.

Modernise and maximise fuction in the house.
So we designed the desk area to be youngster friendly for the current 8yr old room dweller, as well something they will love as a teen. We’re told that the room is adored by our mini client, and she can’t get enough of the desk, which we fitted out with a colored pinboard after the clients had moved in.
As the laundry and bathroom were adjoined, and the client wanted an extra toilet, we were able to configure the 2 spaces to include a powder room which could be entered via the laundry. It is the ideal space for a powder room and it blends so well with the whole flow of the house.
The kitchen was an enclosed space originally, which made the house appear much smaller than it actually was. We opened it up and it is now a bright, open space that overlooks the living and dining areas.
