The
Project
Location: Seaford
For this project in Seaford, part of Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, we worked with property investors to repair and renovate a rental property that had been badly damaged by the previous tenants.
The walls and floors had been ruined, carpets stained, and appliances destroyed.
The owners wanted to hold onto their investment for a few more years before putting it on the market. They engaged Kudo Homes to return the property to as-new condition and make low-cost improvements that would maximise the sale price when they were ready to sell.
THE PROJECT
The whole property got a fresh new coat of paint, new lights and flooring. All Kudo Homes quotes include options for all budgets, giving our clients transparency and control over their spend.

The existing kitchen was in very poor condition with limited storage, so we worked with a tight budget to boost it’s rental appeal. In fact, the budget was so tight, the client requested an IKEA kitchen which was inexpensive, looked stylish, and gave them the option to replace the doors and panels easily themselves with other products from the IKEA range if they desired in years to come.
- Cabinets & Benchtop: IKEA
- Subway tile splashback
- New undermount sink & mixer tap
- New oven, cooktop & rangehood
- New dishwasher
- New lighting
- New timber-look flooring & freshly painted throughout
The lounge was crying out for some love, so we came to it’s rescue!
- resurfaced the bathtub and tiles
- new shower screen, vanity
- new tapware
- new vinyl plank flooring over the existing tiles for a fast, cost-effective and water-resistant solution
The wardrobes in this property were much too old to restore. So we replaced the single-shelf and rail format with IKEA wardrobe cabinetry that offered ample space for the new occupants of this rental.
Each wardrobe came with adjustable shelving, baskets and hanging space, allowing each user to customise their storage space. We finished it all off with a bulkhead to create a built-in feel.
THE FINAL RESULT
Kudo Homes project managed an affordable whole-of-home renovation using flexible, low-cost improvements that would appeal to both renters and, eventually, buyers. Using IKEA flat-pack products and inexpensive but effective construction techniques, we were able to deliver an appealing, practical and cost-effective outcome in less than four weeks.
